6th Grade East Asian Culture

A survey of East Asian Civilization through cultural, philosophical, religious, social and political interactions. We journey through different eras to understand the complexities of the Far East. We showcase our knowledge through individual and group projects.
Mandarin Chinese will be minimally introduced.
7th Grade Mandarin Chinese

This non-credit introductory course in Mandarin Chinese provides the basic communication skills.This course is designed for students who have no prior experience and are interested in learning basic Chinese language as well as culture. Students will be able to communicate verbally in Chinese language within given situations. Both Chinese characters and pinyin are presented together throughout the course.
8th Grade Mandarin Chinese

This is a high school credit course. Passing 7th grade Chinese is a prerequisite for taking this course.Â
In this course, students work on perfecting their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. They study vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects of the language, then apply what they've learned in extensive written and spoken exercises.
Upon completion of the course, students will have an expansive vocabulary and a solid, working knowledge of all verb forms and tenses. As the equivalent of a high school Chinese 1 course, 8th Grade Chinese prepares students for further study of Chinese language, culture, or literature.
